Messrs Nolan, Tonks and Co.'s Stock Report. On the 9th inst., we held a clearing sale of dairy stock for Mr S. H. Harrison. Cows were in low condition, but realised good prices. On 10th inst., at Mr W. S. Young's sale of dairy stock there was a large attendance of the public, and spirited bidding for all lines. The cattle were in good order, cows averagiug £9 15s ; 2-year heifers, in calf, from £3 10s to £4 10s. At Elthatn on 12fch inst., the quantity of stock advertised came forward. Most lines were cleared at or after the sale. At Hawera on 15th inst., there was a fair entry and good enquiry for young steers and springing heifers. Excepting three pens everything was disponed of before leaving the yards. We quote —Yearlings, mixed, 28s to 355; 18month steers, £2 7s to £2 14s ; 2f-year year steers, £3 15s to £4 Is; 3-year bullocks, £4 to £4 10s; fat cows, £3 18s to £4 5s ; fresh condition cows, £3 6s to £3 12s ; store cows, £2 10s to £3 ; weaners, 22s to 26s ; 2-year quiet heifers, in calf, £2 17s 6d to £3 ss; springing heifers, £4 12s 6d to £5 5s ; dairy cows, at profit, £6 to £6 10s. Sheep—Wethers, 9s 6d to 10s; 4tooth ewes and wethers, 7s 3d to 8s; hoggets, 5s to 6s ; ewes, in lamb, 6s to 7s; 4- tooth ewes, in lamb, 9s. Mr Newton King's Weekly Report 1 New Plymouth, August 15. Cattle—On Tuesday, at Eltham, I held a clearing sale of Mr Jas. Preston's dairy. This undoubtedly fine herd of milkers attracted a lot of attention and sold exceptionally well. Forty-four cows averaged £7 Is; and heifers averaged £5. Bidding was brisk from the commencement, and continued so throughout. Trap horses and sundries sold well. Cows in milk from £5lO to £7; springers, £6 to £10; the latter figure being top price for a very fine animal. At Stony River, on Wednesday, the yards wore well filled, young stock predominating. Bidding on the whole was quiet, though one or two lines of extra quality met with fair competition. There were general complaints of shortness of feed, and until growth takes place there cannot be much improvement in prices. Small calves made 14s; fair do., 21s 6d; good do., 26s to 80s; yearlings, 39s ; springing heifers, £3 183 to £4; empty do., £2 14s ; cows, in calf, £B.
Bgmont Farmers' Union (Ltd.) Report. Haweea, August 15. Our monthly sale at Okaiawa, which was held on the sth inst., was better furnished with stock than has been the. case lately. The attendance also was large and bidding brisk, so that nearly everything changed hands before leaving the yards. We quote—Fat bullocks, £6; fat cows, £4 to £5 15s ; 2year steers, £3 to £3 10s; dairy cows and heifers, £3 15s to £5 15s 6d ; 2year heifers, £2 103 to £3 10s; mixed yearlings, 22s 6d to 85s 6d. SheepHoggets 3s to 6s. We held an unreserved clearing sale on behalf of Mr 0. Tait, on his farm near Manaia, on Monday, the 15th inst. The cows all showed signs of the severe winter, and were mostly in backward condition, but any that were at all forward made good money. The horses and all sundries sold remarkably well. We quote—Dairy cows, £4 12s 6d to £8 ss; heifers, £8 2s 6d to £4 10s ; draught horses, £lO 15s to £2O 10s ; hacks, £4 5s to £l2; At Manaia, on Wednesday, 14th inst., our full- entry of cattle came forward, and as there was a fair attendance and bidding pretty brisk throughout, we succeeded in placing mo3t of the lines either at the hammer or immediately afterwards. We quote:— Fat and forward steers, £5 2s 6d to £5 10s 6d ; 12 to 18-month steers, 50s to 545; 2-yeav steers, £3 5s to £3 15s 6d; yearlings mixed, 25s to 335; dairy cows, £3 5s to £4; forward heifers, £3 12s 6d to £4 ; 12 to 18-month heifers, 40s to 465.

Auckland, August 15. Horses—A demand has prevailed for those of a good stamp, and the previous week's values were fully sustained. We quote—Heavy draught, £l2 to £l9 10s; medium, £9 15s to £l7; light harness, £6 to £ll ss; hacks, £3 10s fcp £9 17s 6d ; Cattle. —Increased numbers have been brought forward, and there has been a steady demand, with but little alteration in value. At Newmarket, on Tuesday, a good many were yarded. Fat stock was sufficient for requirements ; dairies advanced slightly in values; stores unaltered. The Pukekohe Yards were well filled on Wednesday, and competition was good, but no noteworthy change in prices. Ox beef ranged from 19s to 21s 1001 b ; selling pricipally at 20s ; cow, 19s ; fat steers ranged from £6 12s 6d to £9 16s ; cows, £3 7s Od to £6 10s; dairy cows, £3 12s Gd to £6 10s. Wethers sold at from 7s 9d to 12s 6d each ; ewes 7s 9d to 9s 3d. Pigs scarce, and without alteration in value.
