Egmont Farmers’ Union (Ltd.) Report. Haweka, July 18. Wo held our monthly sale at Okaiawa on the 11th inst., when the full number of stock advertised came forward, being chiefly young cattle and dry cows. The attendance was small, presumably on account of the bad weather, and bidding was quiet, so that not a large amount of business was done. We quote—Forward steers, £4 15s to £5 Is Gd; dairy cows and heifers, £8 2s 6d to £5 7s Gd ; yearlings, mixed sexes, £1 2s 6J to £1 10s. At Manaia on Wednesday, the 17th inst., some of the young stock advertised did not come in, though they were replaced by some large cattle which about made up the entry. The sale was very quiet throughout, the only kind of cattle enquired for were 2\ to 3-year steers, and what were there met a ready sale. We quote— Forward steers, £4 4s to £5 ss. Mr Nawton King’s Weekly Report. New Plymouth, July 18. Cattle—At Stony Hiver on Wednesday there was a fair muster of stock with good attendance. Bidding was only fairly brisk, and several lines passed at the hammer, but several were placed privately afterwards at about vendors reserves. Weaners made 12s 6d to IGs ; good calves, 22s to 31 s ; 18 month to 2-year steers, poor condition, £2 4s; springing heifers, £4 ss; fat cows, £3 17s to £4 4s ; 1 draught mare, £ls. Messrs Nolan, Tonks and Co.’s Stock Report. Wanganui, July 18. On the 15th inst., we held our usual sale at Eltham. The quantity of stock advertised came forward, but there was not much competition. At Hawera, on 18th inst., there was a fair muster. Most lines changed hands at or after the auction.* Sheep’ met with a ready sale, and good enquiry. We quote — At Eltham—Store cows, £2 9s to £3 ; 24-year quiet heifers, in calf, £3 18s to £4 5s ; dairy cows, £4 15s to £5 ; 8-year heifers, £4 12s Gd to £5 2s Gd ; 18-month to 2-year heifers, £2 3s Gd to £2 ss; forward cows, £3 10s to £3 12s Gd ; weaners, 245. At Hawera—Fat heifers, £3 15s to £3 18s ; 3-year forward bullocks, £4 15s to £4 18s Gd ; 2-year steers, £3 to £3 5s ; yearlings, 35s to £2 2s ; store cows, £2 11s to £3 2s; forward coavs, £1 7s Gd to £3 10s ; springing heifers, £4 to £4 10s ; weaners, 23s to 275. Sheep—2 and 4 tooth wethers, 8s Gd to 9s; superior woolly lambs, 7s 4d ; f.f.m. ewes, 9s Gd ;-cull lambs, 4s.
