Land Board.
The Land Board met on Monday. Present—The Commissioner of Crown Lands (Mr Strauchon), Messrs Stock, Heslop, and Roy. The following list of lands have been disposed of since last meeting:—A. and J. Walker, Section 1, Block 5, Carlyle, 350 acres; W. H. Watkins, Section 2, Block 5, Carlyle, 300 acres ; M. Keating, Section 21, Block 15, Opaku, 420 acres ; E. T. Macpherson, Section 2, same, 1038 acres ; G. I)., W. R., aud H. M. Hunter, Section 3, same, 10G5 acres ; W. Macfarlane Section 4, same, 999 acres; D. McLean, Section 5, same, 660 acres ; J. Godkiu, Section 7, Block 8, Ngaire, 438 acres ; W. Furniss, Section 8, Block 12, Ngaire, 115 acres; J. Purvis, Section 9, same, 115 acres; A. M. Boddie, Section 11, Block, Ngaire, 240 acres ; J. Boddie, Section 15, Block 12, Ngaire, 167 acres; J. N. Boddie, Section 23, Block 12, Ngaire, 155 acres ; A. W. Baggage, Section 2, Block 12, Ngaire, 215 acres; E. A. P. Gibson, Section 5, Block 8, Ngaire, 193 acres. The schedule was approved of. The following applied for freehold : —Deferred payment lands, S. Parkes, Block 9, Kaupokonui; D. C. Simson, Section 16, Block 13, Opunake; 0. Robinson, sen., Section 23, Block 14, Ngaire. Perpetual lease lands—F. Roberts, Section 121 and 122, Block 8, Cape; E. J. Gifford, Section 34, Block 8, Kaupokonui.—Acceded to. D. W. Downes' application to convert p.l. Section 2, Block 8, Hawera, to lease in perpetuity was granted. Three applications to mortgage were agreed to. The Surveyor-General intimated that the Commissioner of Crown Lands in Canterbury had obtained power from his Board to consent to mortgages of lauds to the Government Advances Superintendent to faciliate the completion of the deeds.—The Board decided that the Commissioner be empowered to give consent on behalf of the Board to all mortgages as above when submitted.
Messrs Henn Bros and Willy applied for a further renewal of their license to cut timber over the Ngaire Block, on the ground that they must lay a new tram hue to go further into the bush, and that the license would expire before this was done. The Board resolved to inform the applicants that at the expiry of the present license the Board declines to renew it, and that no further cutting will be permitted after that date under any consideration.—News.
