Education Board.

The Education Board met on Wednesday. Present: Miss Heywood, Messrs Bauchope (chairman), Faull, Wade, Adlam, Hill, Ambury, Allsworth, and Mackay. PROPOSED APPOINTMENTS. It was decided that the following names be forwarded to the Inglewood Committee, in the order named, for the appointment of assistant mistress at the Norfolk Road School:—Miss L. Mynott, Miss M. Irvine, Miss J. Lorrimer, Miss J. Higgins, and Miss G. M. Tippler. The Okato Committee will be asked to make a recommendation from the following for the teachership of the Tataraimaka School: T. McNaught, W. F. Chambers, Mrs M. Dowling, E. H. Andrews, Gertrude M. Tippler. TENDERS. The architect will be instructed to call for tenders for fencing Stanley Road site. DUDLEY BOAD SITE. The Board decided that it did not see its way to lease the Dudley Boad School site at present. SEWING TEACHER. Mrs Heenan's resignation as sewing , teacher in the Tariki Road School was accepted, and Miss C. Morgan will be appointed, subject to the approval of the committee, to fill the vacancy. APPOINTMENTS. The following appointments were made:' W. G. McDonald, Rowan Road; W. Hale, Tariki Road; Mrs Tyrell, sewing teacher of the Oaonui School. ASSISTANTS. The chairman was authorised to provide temporary assistants for the Central, Fitzroy, Inglewood and Stratford Schools for the week on which the pupil teachers' examination is being held. ACTION CONFIRMED. The chairman's action in appointing Mr Chambers and Mrs Martin temporary assistants in the Central School, pending the arrival of Mr Johnson, and the appointment of a third assistant, was confirmed; the salary of the former to be £5 per week, and that of the latter £1 10s. An amendment wa3 moved by Mr Hill, and seconded by Miss Heywood, That the temporary assistants be paid at the same rate as the teachers whose positions they were filling. The amendment was lost by seven votes to three. MIDHIRST. Mr Mackay's report on the school and master's residence at Midhirst was read. The Board passed a resolution thanking Mr Mackay for his report, and it was decided to inform the committee that the chimuey will be attended to at once, and that the painting of the school and residence will be done in the spring. RAHOTU. A letter from the Rahotu Committee with reference to certain repairs that were needed was referred to the architect to report on. REPAIRS, (fee. The .architect will be instructed to erect a porch at the Omata residence, the Oakura Committee paying £3 10s towards the oost; and also to provide a chimney top for the Cardiff School, and screens for the offices at the Norfolk Road School. CLEANLINESS. Resolved, That the Board considers it the duty of the committees to attend to the latrine arrangements of the schools in their charge ; that they are at liberty to adopt whatever system they think best; but that the Board will insist on thorough cleanliness. NOTICE OF MOTION. Mr Faull gave notice to move, That the various committees be informed that when the Board has erected closets and screens for the use qf a school that the Board expects the committees will attend to minor repairs, and if this is not done by the committees, the Board will get any repairs done, and deduct tfye cost of such repairs from the capitation money of the committee. WAIPUKU. Consideration of the proposed removal of the Waipuku School was deferred.

ACCOUNTS were passed, and the Board adjourned.
