Opunake Brass Band.

A meeting was held in the bandroom on Tuesday evening for the purpose of re-orgauisii g the Opunake Brass Band. Present—Messrs C. F. McGregor, Stewart, Cummins, Edmunds, F. Ebbetr, Martin, Duffill, Burke, Armstrong, Cross, Carter, aud Pepperill. Mr McGregor was voted to the chair. The Secretary, Mr Stewart, read the advertisement convening the meeting, and explained the object for which it had been called.

After some general conversation, it was decided to re-organise the band, and the names of a’l those present were handed in as members. On the motion of Mr Stewart, seconded by Mr McGregor, Mr J. J. Cummins was unanimously re-elected bandmaster. Mr Cummins said he would be happy to take up the position. However, he wished it understood that he wanted the full co-operation of the band as a whole. In the past members did not take sufficient interest iu the baud, and consequently it had not made much improvement. It was very disheartening for the few regular attendants at practice in tha past to find their efforts not backed up by other members. He would do his best to make the band a success, the prime factor of which was combined practice and a healthy interest iu all things pertaining to the band. The other officers were elected, as follows Secretary, Mr Burke ; treasurer, Mr McGregor; caretaker, Mr Burke; a committee of five was also appointed. It was resolved that tlie subscription be Is per month. Tuesday was decided as the general practice night. In addition to the usual practice, the bandmaster offered to set aside a night for pupils. The committee was appointed to draw up rules for the guidance of the band. The meeting terminated with the usual compliment to the chair.
