TARANAKI v. FIJI
The Fiji cricketers arrived in Hdwera at midday on Friday, and were met at the station by the local team. After partaking of lunch at the Egmont and Commercial Hotels, where they pui up, they were driven to the ground. The pitch was in splendid order. Haggctfc played in place of Gillespie. G. Bayly, who captained Taranaki, won the toss, au;l elected to bat. Pratt and F. Moore opened the inning*, and remained together till 35 ruus were up, when Moore was bowled by Scott. A. Bayly (not out 20) and G. Syme (21) were the only other two who made a stand, live succumbing to the fast bowling of Tui Vanua for 25, and four to Scott for 10. The innings closed for 91. Caldwell and Collins went in for the visitors, and made 8 and 12 respectively. Kadavu Levu (25) and .Joske (24)" ran the score up, and the innings closed for 102.
