Land Board.
The Laud Board met on Monday. Present —The Commissioner of Crown Lands (Mr Strauchon), Messrs Stock, Kelly, Heslop, and Roy. LAND DISPOSED OF. The following land was disposed of since last meeting :—Sub. 5, ElthamOpunake Railway Ressrve, 4a 2r 4p, E. Birkett, 10 years lease; sub. 20, same reserve, 12a Or 16p, R. E. Shewry, 10 years,; sub. 20, Village of Kaponga, la, Emma MacClure, £l6 ; sec. 25, Village of Kaponga, F. 8. Canning, £B2. The schedule was agreed to. OBTAINING FEEEHOLD. The following applied to obtain freehold of d.p. lands :—J. O’Sullivan, Block, 18, Ngaire, and Sec. 8, Block 6 Kaupokonui. P.L. lands—-F, McGuire, Sec. 4, Block 16, Ngaire.— Agreed to. CHANGING TENURE. P. McCarthy applied to convert the tenure ©f d.p. Section 5, Block 1, Waimate; also of Section 18, Block 15, Kaupokonui, from deferred payment to lease in perpetuity. The Board decided to inform the applicant that owing to the expiration of the lease for Section 5, the request cannot be acceeded to; but that the other application will be agreed: to. YEARLY TENANCY. Messrs Young and applied for a yearly tenancy of Sections 5 and 16, Block 4, Town of Manaia, Granted on the usual conditions. ranger’s report. The ranger reported on his uwpec* tion of 38 sections in various districts, showing that an area of 4568 acres of first class and 5910 acres of second class land had been inspected, the requirements being 712 acres cultivated and further improvements to the value of £1597 18s. The area in grass was 2101 acres, and further improvements to the value of £4142, and improvements such as building fencing, &c., valued at £8621 6s. Two selectors, Messrs Wallett and Bateman are in total default, and threeothers in partial default. Messrs Wallett and Batemen will be notified to show cause why their sections should not be forfeited. The balance of the report was adopted as being very satisfactory. opunake township. The ranger submitted a recommendation for offering for lease the unsold sections in Opunake township, and the clerk of the Town Board wrote stating that the. Board desired the sale of leases, to be held in the Town Hall. The report was adopted, the leases to be for seven years, with the right to remove the fences at the expiration of the lease. It was further decided to hold the sale in New Plymouth, as there did not appear to be sufficient demand to warrant holding the sale in Opunake.—News.
