KAPONGA.

0 (Our Own Correspondent.) The Kaponga Caledonian Society held its first meeting iu Mr Craddock'a paddock oa New Year's Day, and was a decided success. The Committee worked hard, but Mr Nichols deserves especial mention for the untiring manner in which he carried out his arduous duties, and for his courtesy to all. The attendance was exceptionally good, considering the counter attractions, and that the morning was so wet. The programme was postponed for a while on account of the wet, but when once started the events were got off in good style, and with the exception of the walking, for which there were only three entries, and the one mile running, for which, after the half-mile, only three started, were well contested, and resulted in very close finishes, which speaks well for the handicapping. Mr Lusher, the timekeeper, failed to put in an appearance, so I cannot send the times. Following are the results: Maiden, 150yds : W. Badcock, 1; Carroll, 2 ; Milu, 3. Boys' Race : W.
