Education Board.

The Education Board met on Wednesday. Present: Miss Heywood, Messrs Bauchope (chairman), Hill, Faull, Adlam, Ambuiy, and Wade. ABSENT MEMBERS. Messrs McKay and Allsworth were absent from the meeting. RETURNS. The Inspector-General forwarded an order made by the House, namely “ That a return bo laid before this House showing the amount charged as expenses by members of the various Education Boards throughout the colony for the years 1892,* 1893, and 1894, such return to state the amounts charged as travelling expenses, whether by railway or other mode of locomotion.” Forms in which the required information is to be filled in were also forwarded. —The information will be supplied by the Secretary of the Board. ILX.NESS. Mr Dempsey, head master of the Central School, notified that lie was absent from duty oo account of illness on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday of last week, but that he was able to resume his duties on Monday last. Miss Essie Beal also notified that she had resumed her duties at the Central School after an absence of three days. WAIPUKU. A sum of £5 will be granted to Miss Rogers for her services in teaching sewing in the Waipuku school during last year. KORU. The Board decided to grant the Oakura Committee £2 18s as a supplement in aid of expenses in erecting % porch at the Koru school. STRATFORD. An application from the Stratford Committee for forms was left to the chairman to deal with. SEWING. The Intpector was required to investigate the circumstances under which the sewing specimens were forwarded to the Board from certain schools.—The Pembroke Road School Committee will be informed that the departmental regulations require that all girls attending school be taught sewing, the Board’s regulations provide for carrying this out. ACCOUNTS. Accounts amounting to £9lB 4s Gd were passed for payment.—Herald.
