Oeo Racing Club.

The annual general meeting of the above Club was held at the Oeo Hotel on Wednesday evening. Messrs H. Wagstaff (chairman), ,M# Shove, N. Shove,. W. A. Good, J. Lambie, G. W. Bogers, Tito, W. D. Scott, T. Knowles, A. Good, and B. Ogden. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. The Hon. Sec. read the balancesheet. De. Receipts.

Resolved that the balance-sheet, as read, be adopted. [Bogers-Lambie.] A letter was received from the Egmont Racing Club with reference to share of expenses of delegate to attend the Conference. Resolved that a fair share of the delegate's expenses be borne by this Club. [Scott-Lambie.]

The valuable services of the Hon. Secretary, MrE. Shove, were acknowledged by all present, and a Bum of £lO was voted to cover expenses out of pocket in attending the conference and otherwise in connection with the club's business. Mr E. Shove said that one of the main things they would have to take into account was the probable suppression of the club by the next Conference. Four clubs in the Taranaki Metropolitan district would have to go, and it was a foregone conclusion that Oeo would be one of the number. He was of opinion that if Oeo amalgamated with Manaia, and the Manaia Club shifted its course near to Otakeho, so as to put a greater distance between them and Hawera, that it would be a great point in favour of Manaia being retained. Mr Bogers said it was an open secret that Bell Block, Pungarehu, and Oeo •Clubs would have to go, and one of the delegates, he understood, favoured Waitara being .retained, whilst the other thought Manaia had stronger claims through giving a better programme, and being in a better position generally. It would, however,, rest with the conference to decide. He did not think that the mere fact of Oeo amalgamating with Manaia would be sufficient to retain the latter Club if the conference was of opinion that it should be abolished. The mountain was taken as a centre, and New Plymouth, Stratford, Egmont, -and Opunake were admitted as. the certainties, and then the, choice rested between Waitara and Manaia. Bell Block had amalgamated with Waitara in order to strengthen .Waitara. He was in favour of Manaia being retained, and would advocate Oeo joining Manaia if that would help it in any way ; but they ought to have an alternative, so that if Man%ia were rubbed' out they could join Opunake, which, he thought, was what the majority of the members would prefer under such circumstances.

After a lengthy discussion, Mr E. Shove moved, " That this club com municate with the Manaia Olub with a view to amalgamation, and suggesting that the course be moved further this way." Seconded'by Mr N. Shove and carcarried.

Messrs E. Shove and A. "Good were appointed delegates to interview the Manaia Club and obtain an expression of opinion as early as possible. A vote of thanks to the chairman terminated the meeting.
