Four doctors who are in attendance on the Czar have issued a bulletin that the disease of the kidneys has not improved, and that his strength is diminishing.
London, October 17.
Owing to the illness of the Ameer, the Viceroy of India will summon a special meeting of the Council at Simla to consider the situation.
Lord Roberts advises English resident to. leave Cabul and take refuge at Peshawur. > In the event of the Ameer's death he is of opinion that there will be serious trouble, as his personal influence alone checked the fanatics in their bitter hatred of foreigners. Melbourne, October 17.
Mr Speight, plaintiff in the recent libel action against the Age, receives costs on the counts on which he succeeded. The costs on either side are to be on the highest scale. The defendant has been ordered to pay the shorthand writer's fees.
