NEW SOUTH WALES v. NEW ZEALAND. The football match, New South Wales, v. New Zealand, was played at Lancaster Park, Christchurch on Saturday last, in glorious weather. There were 4000 spectators present. The game resulted in an unexpected win for New South Wales by eight points to six. The New Zealand men exhibited lack of combination among the forwards, and the visitors, playing a grand forward game, were just enabled to win. Alf Bayly, the New Zealand captain, was forced to look on for the most part of the second spell in a dazed condition, owing to a severe knock. Hanna and Eyre scored tries for New South Wales, Cobb converting one; and Alf Bayly and S. Humphries scored a try each for New Zealand. The Star Club (New Plymouth) defeateated Parnell (Auckland) on Saturday by 16 to 8.
