Mr Newton King’s Weekly Report. New Plymouth, September 13. . Cattle.—On Tuesday, I held a clearing sale of Mr Montgomery’s dairy, when nearly 100 cows weresold at satisfactory prices, bidding being animated throughout. The cows were a fair average lot, and were in all stages of profit, the top price being £lO 5s for a very choice springer. Backward cows made from £3 2s 6d to £4 10s ; cows in milk, £4 15s to £6 10s ; springers, £5 10s to £lO ss; heifers, £4 10s to £5 10s. The same day, at Hereford road, I sold Mr F. Gibbons’ dairy and farm stock, when there was a good attendance and keen competition. • The cows were in rather poor condition, but were otherwise a good lot. Cows in milk made £8 10s to £6 12s Gd; springers, £5 12s 6d to £7 12s 6d ; trap horse, £l3 ; bullocks and dray, £26. On account of Mr John Gilbert —Springers made from £6 15s to £8 ; cow's, in calf, £4 15s to £5. At Stoney River, on Wednesday, the yards were fairly filled. The young stock were on the whole rather a poor lot, but most of them sold at the hammer or privately. Dairy cattle near calving sold well. One pen of big steer s came forward, but were not enquired for. Calves made 25s Gd to 295; yearlings, 32s to 38s Gd; 12 to 15-month steers, 47s : heifers and calves, £3 17s 6d ; springing do., £4 15s ; cows, £5 15s to £7.; cows, in calf, £3 17s 6d to £5 16s; hoggets, 6s lOd. Mmsfs Hunter and Nolan’s Report. Auckland, September 13. Horse feed,grain hides—A continued demand bas prevailed, and the supply his been sufficently large. We quote—Oats, 2s to 2s 3d bushel; maize, on wharf, 2s to 2s 2d ; fowl wheat, 2s lOd ; bran, £2 15s ton ; chaff, £2 10s to £3. Horses.—lncreased numbers wens brought forward; demand was brisk for those of a good stamp. Heavy draught, £l2 to £2B; medium, £lO 10s to £l6 15s ; hacks, £4 10s to £lO 12s Gd. Cattle.—An average number have been brought forward, and all classes met steady demand at the previous week’s values. The Newmarket Yards were fairly filled on Tuesday. Calves £1 to £1 10s; yearlings, £1 7a Gd to £1 18s ; grown steers, £3 7s Gd to £4 15s ; dry cows, £1 15s to £3 ss; dairy cows, £8 15s to £6 7s Gd ; ox beef, £1 2s to £1 3s lOOlbs ; cow, £1 to £1 Is. Sheep, short of requirement; wethers, sold at from 15s 8d to 19s 8d each ; one extra good realised £1 5s 3d ; ewes, 14s 3d to 16a. Pigs, scarce, and small sold from £1 8s to £2 each. Mmsfs Nolan, Tonka and Co. s Stock Report. Haweka, September 13. Our fortnightly sale at Eltham was held on 10th inst. There was a good entry of cattle, and fair bidding. At Hawera,' on 18th inst, considerably more stock than advertised came forward. Bidding was slack, yet we succeeded in placing most lines at prices slightly in favor of purchasers. At the clearing sale, held on 7tb inst, on account of Mr A. W. Blennerhassett, good prices were realised. We quote—3-year bullocks, £4 12s Gd; dairy cows, £5 to £7 10s 2-year heifers, £3 Is; bull, £l4 5s ; weaners; 81s ; ewes and lambs, 10s lOd to 11s 4d ; hoggets, 6s lOd ; cull ewes, 5s Id ; sows, £2 10s to £3 I2s Gd ; slips, 9s to 12s Gd ; draught horse, £l9. At Eltham—Yearling steers, £2 to £2 ss; 2-year heifers, £2 10s to £2l7s 6d ; 24 to S-year quiet heifers, in calf, £i 10s to £5 5s ; springing cows, £5 10s to £7 ; store cows, £3 to £3 7s Gd ; weaners, 30s to 85s ; calves, 16s to 20s.
