MANAIA.

(Our Own Correspondent.) An old identity, Mr James Day, died on Saturday of congestion of the lungs; age 63. Mr John Mouri is in a critical condition from a dyspeptic complaint. Dr Pairman had a narrow escape. His buggy was overturned whilst going round a sharp corner. Messrs Hodder and Burns, our local builders, have dissolved. Mr Hodder continues the business. Mr Robertson, of Kaponga, has Mr P. McCarthy’s two new shops at the Octagon in hand, which will be let to Messrs Ambury and Tring, of New Plymouth. No nominations in as yet for the new Town Board. The Riversdale factory is now in full swing at the Inaha, two miles from Manaia. This is a co-operative company. Let’s hope it will not meet the fate of so many of its forerunners. With fifty acres and a dozen cows my pile is made. You bet! All now I want besides a house is a sweet Courtney cadet.
