The footballers’ plain and fancy dress ball came off in the Kahotu Hall on Friday night, when there were between 80 and 90 present. The following appeared in character : Miss Blane, Flowergirl; Miss Elwin, Ivy; Miss Chapman, Starlight; Miss A. Chapman, Red Cross Nurse; Miss Jeffries, Sailor; Miss Morris, Flowergirl ; Miss Rutherford, Gretchen; Miss Simeon, Snowflake-; Miss A. Simeon, Head Hospital Nurse; Miss L. Simeon, Magpie ; Miss Y. Simeon, Red, White, and Blue ; Mr Chapman, Cricketer; Mr Maxwell, Stockman ; Mr E. R. Morgan, Taranaki News; Mr Pen warden, Stockman; Mr J. Simeon, Spanish Nobleman; Mr F. Simeon, Young Nelson; Mr Wagstaff, Footballer; Mr West, Spanish Fisherman. The floor was in excellent order, and the music was supplied by Mr Good. The catering was in the hands of Mr Black, and was pronounced perfect. Altogether the affair was a complete success. The thirteenth monthly competition for the President’s Cup took place on Friday, 14th inst. The weather was fairly good. It turned out to be the last competition necessary to decide the ownership of the trophy, as the winner, Mr E. Sutton, has now won it three times. The following are the scores :
