Awatuna Mail Service.

The following letter has been received by Mr M’Guire.M.H.R., from the Postmaster-General, which we publish for the information of the settlers in this district. The letter is in answer to a petition f r a tri-weekly service between Eltbam arid Opuuake via Kapouga and Awatuna. Mr McGuire is exerting himself in favour of the service, and considering the large number of settlers who 'would be benefited by it, we trust that calling for tenders will not terminate the question, but that a service which is so urgently required will be established :

General Post Office, > Wellington Sept. 4, 1894. Sib, —In reply to a petition from the residents of Awatuna, forwarded through you, for an additional weekly mail, I nave now the honour to inform you that it has been deckled to insert an alternate service between Eltham and Opunake, via Kaponga and Awatuna, three times weekly, iu the list of tenders about to be called for mail services during 1895-96, and when these have been received the request of the petitioners wi 1 be fully considered. I have the Honour to be Sir, Your Obedient Servant, J. G. Ward, Postmaster-General. " P. McGuire, Esq., M.H.R., Parliament Buildings, Wellington.
