Mania Catholic Social.
(Our own Correspondent.)
A very good assembly of over 40 couples attended this festivity. The arrangements were in every way perfect. The music was supplied by the inimitable violin of Mons. Hulse, and Mr Stevenson, the well-known pianiste, with tbe cornet of our late bandmaster Mr E. Tait, fi. sis ted by Miss Pitt and Mr Rountree. As far as the “ tucker ” went well, I sampled pretty nearly everything in the room, starting with ham sandwiches aud going through the whole list of jellies, tarts, sponge cakes, lollies, biscuits, oranges, pine apple, tea. coffee, and cigarettes. There’s a funny taste in my mouth now, but it was grand last night. The young men of our locality behaved splendidly, handing round the solids and liquids with the grace of the French garoon without spi'ling a drop or spoiling an inch of silk, saitn, or moire antique, or whatever they call it. The songs and other items given in the programme were rendered in the, usual wellknown and happy style of those who are all old favorites. The gross receipts amounted to about £25, which should leave a good surplus towards the funds of the Church of the Sacred Heart. •
