MONEY WELL SPENT.

(to the editor.) Sir, —Mr Allen, M.H.8., tabled a motion which was carried in the House, for a return of all public moneys spent in connection with the enrolment of electors previous to the last general election, the names of persons and amounts paid to them for enrolling. I may say that will be money well spent. I was given to understand that men were receiving £1 per day for riding about for the purpose. Now, whatever need was there to waste this money ? If people were desirous to be enrolled there were ample facilities for so doing. Forms were procurable at all Post Offices, which no one can deny are not plentiful all through the Egmont electorate ; any elector could enroll; and they were easy come-at-able. I believe I enrolled pretty near one hundred persons, and no doubt others did so at the same prize, viz., the trouble and nothing more.—l am, &c., G. W. Gane, Oaonui.
