OAONII.
(Ouk Own Correspondent.) Mr Morrison, in yours of the 17th, doubts what he calls my assertion. I say it is not an assertion, but facts ; at any rate it does not affect the case. What he asserts, as I may repeat, that ratepayers did want an explanation, and which they have got. He says likewise that I have been good enough to publish my identity; what twaddle is that. Why, I have been well known as your correspondent since the advent of the Times. And he says he knows what the agitation has been kept up for ; no doubt Mr Morrison does, for who should better ? Is he not a member of the public body, and reaping a direst-. benefit from the suspension of the ranger. I can assure Mr Morrison that if he w r as not a member of the Board, although reaping a direct benefit, as many other ratepayers are, - he would not have been singled out for special comments. If any other member was in the same category, he would have been treated the same, but not a private ratepayer.
