Waimate Road Board.

(Our Own Correspondent.) Manaia, August 10. Present: Messrs McKeown (chairman), Sbeat, Henson, Borrie, and Coxhead. Letter received from Mr J. Judson, objecting to be rated for Mangawhero Road loan. Resolved, That the chairman interview him regarding the matter.* Resolved, That the resolution authorising loan of £1585 for Upper Auroa Eoad be rescinded. Proposed by Mr McKeown and seconded by Mr Henson. A petition from Auroa Eoad settlers was read, asking for a loan of £9OO for metalling from Eltham Eoad northwards, in lieu of £1585. Resolved, That the necessary action be taken to raise same. Proposed by the and seconded by Mr Borrie. No action was taken regarding Mr Honey’s personal application for gravelling money, £3 3s. A deputation presented a petition for a loan of £4OO for forming and, metalling Rowan Road, from Eltham Road to the Railway Reserve (100 chains). Resolved, on the motion of Mr Coxthead, seconded by Mr Henson, That [the necessary steps be taken. The engineer was instructed to interview settlers with reference to the gorse on roads, and the secre--1 tary to Avrite to the Public Trustee re gorso on native lands. Mr Borrie was appointed to sign cheques in the absence of Mr McCarthy. Applications were received from— W. Swadling for improvenment ou Kaponga Street leading to his property. No action taken; money allocated elsewhere. From Johnston Bros re repairs to Dutbie Eoad. Work to go on in fine weather. From S. Kissick for bush to be felled on the road to his section at Makaka. Makaka township overdrawn ; no funds available. From Young Bros, re land fund on Upper Oeo Road. Thirteen pounds to be spent ou road. Resolved, That they be informed that the money has been spent on this road south of the Opunake Road. From the proprietor Opunake Times re advertising. Resolved, That the Board cannot do so at present. From Mr Doube, complaint re wandering cattle on Kiri Road. He to be authorised to impound stray cattle round the Punehu Eoad. A petition was received from settlers on the Kin Eoad, regarding loan of £IOOO for metalling. Foreman to attend to same and furnish estimate.
