AUCKLAND TEACHERS LIBEL CASE.
(to the editor.) Sir, —Mr Houston, M.H.R., has been asking questions of the Minister of Education regarding the above case, where a teacher got damages to the amount of £75, aud costs amounting to £350. Third question : “ AVill he so amend the Education Act that all correspondence from School Committees to the Boards of Education throughout the colony shall be treated as privileged correspondence.” Mr Reeves said he would avrite to the Board for information. (AVhen received, let us have it.) AVhatahappy country this would be for teachers if Committees were allowed to write anything about them, good or evil, without any consequence. I have had some expei ieuce of teachers, and I think it would be very unwise if such was law. If there is any reason to change teachers, promotion, or disrating, let them know the cause openly. I am, &c., G. AY. Gane, Chairman Oaonui School Committee.
