Opunake Band of Hope.

A pleasant two hours' entertainment was enjoyed at the Wesleyan Church last eveniug in connection with the above, when a large number of people were present. Mr McLeotl occupied the chair and addressed the audience on the subject of temperance. Mi* Guy also gave a few practical words of advice 0:1 the same subject. The following programme was then given, all the items showing evidence of careful preparation, and were well received by the audience: —Hymn, Choir ; recitation, " Grandmother," Miss Annie McHnrdy ; instrumental duet, " Heavenward," Messrs Lloyd and Hutchens; song, "He wipes a tear," Miss I. Prosser; recitation, " Little Jim," Miss M. Des Forgc3 soug, " The Biddge," Mr Lloyd ; dialogue, " The Drnukard's Spree and what came of it; " the characters were taken by Miss Grainger, Miss Guy, and Messrs Lloyd, J. Carter, B:ighfcwell, Guy, Fisher, Fall, and Master A. Carter, who all acquitted themselves very creditably in their respective parts; recitation, "Good Shepherd," Miss L. Ebbett; soug, " The Teetotal Car," Mr Fisher ; recitation, " Au Unsafe Thing to do," Mr Lloyd ; recitation, " A Little Hero," Miss E. Humphries; duet, "Larboard Watch," Messrs Carter and L'oyd ; recitation, " Sign To-night," Miss Alice Dudley. The accompaniments to the vocal items were very nicely played by Miss Grainger.
