RAHOTU.
(Ouk Own Correspondent.) Compliments from all quarters are made on tbe Opunake Times. Type first class, well printed, and far above expectations, and those who have subscribed as shareholders may with certainty look forward for a paying concern, as the paper is a locally owned affair; and with such a large circulation it behoves all local bodies in our district to see that all public works etc to be let, are advertised in it, then ratepayers will have no excuse of not being posted up if to tender or to pay up, to avoid being sued. Advertising is 8i success; an advertisement appeared in the Times of the 10th of a lost cow, the result was, she was picked up the same day 8 miles away and returned to the owner. She had been straying about since the 7th, and tbe owner was seeking her in quite a different direction. ( Football is all the rage here now, much interest being taken in tbe game. Mr Swinerton's store is on the way. Mr Harvey has had a new oven buih by Mr Barlow, who has made a good job of it. Mr Black a ce'ebrated well-known baker has taken up his residence here, preparatory to starting baking for Mr Harvey. Mr West is in temporary charge of of the Public School. Much sympathy is felt for our late teacher, Mr King, through his beiug too iil to carry on the duties of teaching. The dancing class continues in the Hall and is well attended. Revd Mr Marshall gave a lecture on Tuesday evening, but a very small audience assembled owing to the wtatber.
