Foresters' Ball.

On Friday evening this event took place, a'.:cl notwithstanding the very stormy night the hall was comfortably filled and an exceedingly pleasant evening was spent. The hall has been enlarged by the removal of the two rooms which were in the front part of it, and nn. additkn made at the back which has been divided, one part being for a supper-room and the other a ladies' di-etsiug-rccm. The alterations were carried cut by Mr A. O'Brien. The hall decorations were under the direction of Mr Des Forges, whose taste in such matters is so well known, and the effect pi'oduced reflected great credit on his exeriions. From the dadoeiug to the ceiling the walls were decorated with ferns and other greenery, while numerous flags were suspended from the ceiling. The various emblems and insignia of the Lodge were displayed to good effect at different points round the room, and at the end of the hall a large wall mirror was hung, which was kindly lent by Mr Pes Forges, and produced a very pleasing effect. The floor was in perfect order, and the music supplied by Mis Orchard left nothiug to be desired by the dancers. The sup-per-room was tastefully laid out with an abundant supply of substantial and delicacies, supplied principally by Mesdames Middleton, Twoomey, Knowle3 and O'Brien, which withstood the assault most gallantly. The committee appointed by the Lodge were all at their posts, and the total absence of any confusion testified to their care and ability. Messrs Twoo•rney (hon sec.) and C. F. McGregor had the lion's sharo of the work, but must have felt compensated by the great success which resulted from their efforts, The honors of belle, we think, were pretty equally divided between Miss Andrews, Miss Collins, and Miss Holmes, each having a host of admirers.
