Mr W. D. Scott notifies a sale of trees, on behalf of Mr It. Smith, Pioneor Nursery, Manaia. We would recommend those intending to plant not to let this opportunity pass, as the trees from this nursery, being freshly lift?d, have a much better chance of proving successful in planting. We call attention to Mr A. 11. Moore's advertisement in this issue. He. has a very extensive list oE agencies, and those entrusting him with any commissions may rely on having their business done with promptitude and care. Ho also keeps a large stock of reliable grass and vegetable seeds, which buyers would do well to inspect before sending any orders out of the district. Messrs Budge and Good notifiy entries for their Otakeho sale, which takes place on Friday nset. Messrs Brightwell and Son notify that they are buyers of bacon pigs, killed and dressed. A Church of England social takes place on Tuesday, 21th inst., in the Town Hall. A good programme of vocal and instrumental music has been prepared for the occasion. Mr W. D. Prof Stagpoole gave his entertainment in the Town Hall on Saturday evening to a large and appreciative audience. The Prof opened with the Indian club exercises, in which he is perfect. Between each performance he gave an explanation of the benefits to he (Tciived from the use of clubs, dumbbells, etc. He gave an exhibition of his strength by putting 841 b weight up over his head several times in succession with either hand. He then requested any of those present to put on the mittens and test their abilities on him, but met with no response. Pou eventually tried three rounds with the professor and a very good exhibition was tho result. A very scientific display of wrestling was then given in the contest between the professor and Pou, the style adopted being " catch-as-catch-can" which was new to most of the audience, and created great applause, when the professor was declared the winner, although only weighing 10st to his antagonist's lost Gibs. On the whole the performance was very entertaining, and all went away well satisiied with their evening's amusement.
