A meeting of parishioners of the Church of England was held in the schoolroom on Thursday evening, the 12th instant, 1894, to consider the question of the erection of a church at Opuuake, There were present—Rev. J. W. Chapman (in the chair), Messrs E. C. Middleton, H. Middleton, Howard Seccombe, Stewart, Beckway, Eason, Knowles, Newman, Scott, Des Forges, and Raikes. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. Specifications were read and compared with those of the Manaia Church, and a number of modifications were decided on. Resolved, That tenders be called at once in accordance with the modified specifications ; tenders to dose on 9th August. Resolved that tenders should be advertised in the Opuxajce Times and Hawera Star. Plans and specifications are to be seen at the office of Mr Edward 0. Raikes. The next meeting was fixed for 9th August, the date of closing tenders. The meeting closed with the usual compliment to the chair. Much interest was evinced throughout the proceedings.
