THE PUBLIC LIBRARY.
(to THE EDITOR.) , Sir, —There vas at one time, I am told, a Public Library in this town, which is now supposed to be in the hinds of trustees ; at any rate, it does not appear to be available for use. Is it possible to resuscitate this mod useful institution *? Can you give any information as to the why and the how ? While writing on this subji cfc, it struck me that an effort should be made for the institution of a public reading room, in which those who have the education could pass away an idle hour, cither in perusing the works of standard authors, the daily papers, or possibly in the enjoyment of a friendly game of dominoes. To our young men such a place of resort would be a boon ; while those who are approaching the conclusion of their clays, would doubtless appreciate the convenieces of v st, with amusement, they would find at their command. —I am, &c., Bookwqksi.
