CONSERVATION OF TEE OXFORD FORSET
A public meeting of persons interested m the above question was held m the Oddfellows Eall on Thursday March 25th. at which there was a fairly numerous attendance. The M.H.E's of Ashley and Kaiapoi were present, as well as the Chairman and two membeis of the W-A. Water Supply Board. Mr John Weld presided. The conclusion arrived at by the conference of Sawmillers and the W.S.B was submitted to the meeting and evoked considerable discussion, a^ proposition being finally carried to the effect that the members be requested -to obtain from the Government a reserve of Bush and other lands, so as to conserve the Bush and prevent the evaporation of water from the Cooper's Creek race, such land to be vested inthe W.S.B. it was very nooiceable that with one exception those most eager for the destruction of the Bush are not ratepayers m the water race District. The usual vote of thanks to the Chairman, Messrs Meredith and Moore M.H-R'3 and the Chairman and members of the W-S.B. terminated the proceedings.
