The Shops and Shop assistants Acts— Now before Parliament contains the following clause of interest to Oxford Storekeepers. " Clause 8. All Shop-assistants ia shops outside the limits of Cities, borough and town districts, and all assistants employed in hotel bars within and without such lin_its,shall have a half-holiday, from the hour of one o'clock in the afternoon of some working day in each week. If any shopkeeper shall offend against the provisions of this section by allowing any shop-assistants as afore said to continue at work during such halfholiday, he shall for every such offence be liable to a penalty not exceeding five pounds." Shop assistants means " any person or any member of the shopkeepers family who works in a shop for hire or maintenance, and includes apprentices and improvers. We have received a copy of Industrial Conciliation and Arbitration Act. The same is open for inspection at our Office. Wateb Supply.- — The WaimakaririAshley Water Supply Board Loan Bill, was read for the first time last Tuesday. • Watchmakee. — Mr Turpin requests us to say that he has not been able to get the Premises in order, but hopes to be in a position to commence business at an early date. Influenza. — Now ibis epidemic is becoming prevalent we strongly recommend the free use of Platypus Brand of Eucalyptus Globulus Extract, taken upon sugar or in milk. The most pleasant way to tako Eucalyptus is in the Platypus Brand of Eucalyptus Jujubes. They are in such a portable form, pleasant to taste, antiseptic and stimulant. Sprinkle the oil upon handkerchief and about the rooms. Health Tea. — As will be seen by advertisment appearing in this issue, Mr F. W. Waterman of this town has been appointed local agent for ' Health ' Tea, a new brand of blended tea wliich has lately been put on the New Zealand market. This tea has, we are informed, met with a tremendous sale in Australia and wherever it has been introduced into this colony. The success has been an unparalleled one : its wonderful and varied qualities have made the ' Health ' Tea a household word in tea drinking communities and we have no doubt ifc will meet with the same approval here.
