OXFORD ROAD BOARD.
This Board held their first ordinary meet during the present year and Mr Hawker was elected Chairman. All the members being present. Minutes of last meeting were read. The following matters contained m the Clerks report were dealt with. ' Clearing of the Waimak Gorge cut- ' ting to stand over till Spring. ! Mr Ryde offered to contribute material to the valueof £25. towards a bridge at bis mill, the Board to find the remainder,* estimated at £81. The Board considered the offer generous, but had no funds for the purpose. Fresh Tenders will be called for clearing scrub on Dumphy's road. Messrs Me Bryer asked the Board to slope the sides of race running through their land. The Board considered the request an ..unreasonable one and one if granted would open- th&dbor to endless applications of the same nature, Clerk stated that the funds of the Board were such that he feared the i Board would have to arrange for an overdraft. The Board agreed to make arrangements for a small overdraft arid the Clerk was ordered to sue for all batstanding rates arid dog fees without j further notice and that the clerk decline,' to entertain any applications for' the prosecution of any Jancy works and to reduice the- amount of monthly labour ? sheet. . : . Mr Wright moved and Mr .Bassett' seconded that £he Board at its next? 1 meeting make and levy a rate of £d m the £ on all ratedble property m the 1 District. Mr Weld proposed and Mr Stubbs seconded that a fd rate be' struck. ' Messrs s Hawker, iWright and Bassett voting, for the motion which was carried.' ; : : ; ! ' - -Mr Mr A Wright asked permission to excavate side of the road adjacent his property Clerk to arrange. i Proposed by Mr Bas3ett and carried
that a vote of I£<L per acre be levied, m the Eyre water race district and a rate of 8d m the £ be levied m the View Hill District. Correspondence:— From Mr H. Simpson complaining of Mr Bunni ' allowing pigs to pollute the water race. ' To reply! that the u act is very clear on this point. ■ Wright, .objecting to going on- with his contract along Johnson's line ias~ the Surveyor line is not clear. Fresh tenders to be invited. ' From A. Bailey asking for branch race on his land. Clerk to report. ,From .G S.
