LICENSING ELECTION. KAIAPOI.
The first meeting of the Kaiapoi District Licensing Committee was held at the Magistrate's Courthouse Kaiapoi, last Monday. There were present — Mr H. W. Bishop, S.M., Chairman and the following comrnitteemen — The Bey H. H.-Mathias, Messrs I. Wilson, G. Wallace, W. Harrison, A. D. Hassall, T. Wilson, H. Seed and W. Turner. The police reports \vere read. Begarding the Kakanui Hotel, Kaiapoi, licensee W. A. jraham, reference was made to a complaint which .came^Jbefore the late committee, and was adjourned for the consideration of their .successors. The Chairman addressing the licensee of the Oust Hotel, informed him that the committee was aware that his house had not m the past been conducted as well as could be wished. He would m future have to keep his place clean, and provide good meals and good beds, for travellers. Mr Bourgeois asked what' objection was taken to his house. The Chairman replied that he and others whose applications had been adjourned would receive written notice of the objections.
