BRACKENFIELD HOUNDS.

The meet took place. at Mr T. Mc Grath's on the 18th inst. and about 30 of our best sportsmen joined m the fun. We regret to notice the absence of several old identities such as the Pearson's and Chapman's and only one of our old visitors was present (viz) Mr Coward. The memory of Mr E. Cbapman and his good horse Billy was affectionately revived. Old Larry was much missed. Mr Henderson's Clarence has gone to pastures new and has won laurels m the race, but he is replaced, by I think a relative a sturdy brown colt, which promises to eclipse Clarence, good as he was. Mr F. Prowe again made his debute on St. John and the little horse appears to be as good as ever. Did space permit we should like to critise each horse and rider m the hunt, sufficient to say we should bave nothing but favours to bestow, both riders and horses behaving splendidly throughout the day, just a few accidental spills, 3 or 4 ladies were present and but few muffs and gap plungers, consequently little damage has been done to fences and a matter of 10/- will square the lot. With fair and square riding there appears to be little danger of the farmers objecting to the hunt. Three kills were registered, the first two were mere spirts and then an adjournment was made to Mr Duders who entertained the meet and after thafc a pussy rose which proved a real goer, lasted about 30 minutes at a good pace over stiff combinations of gorse, wire and water-races. The weather was delicious but the ground rather hard, but taking it all ih all it was an exceedingly good days sport.
