The meeting of Householders held here on the 23rd inst. to elect a school committee resulted m the return of the following viz:-Messrs Harle, Barnes, Pole, Smith and Mounsey, Bunn and Parlane. For sometime past it has been hinted that certain members of the late Committee would not be reelected. It has been the policy of certain discontented persons for months past to endeavour to poison the minds of householders against the committee generally but more particularly against two or three prominent members including the chairman. The result of Mondays meeting should be a lesson to these malcontents. The Householders have shown their appreciation of the late Committee's actions during the troubles of lasfc year by returning every
man. They rightly returned the men who stood by the Householders and teachers, against slander. The two men who have lost no opportunity of vilifying the late Committee were hopelessly beaten, being at the bottom of tbe poll. The following five gentlemen were elected a Committee for the new school district of Woodstock, Mr J. Bassett (chairman) Messrs T. Dickson, J. Purvis, A. Bailey, and E. Mulligan.
