VIEW HILL.
A public meeting, at which Mr j?ole pre^ sided, was held m the Schoolroom on Monday evening, for the purpose of electing a Library Committee for the ensuing year. The balance-sheet was read, and, m answe to Mr A. Wright, as to why more books of reference were not placed m the Library, it Was pointed out that there was not so great a demand for books of that character as would justify the Committee m procuring them. On the motion of Mr B. Parlane, it was agreed to recommend the Committee to accord Mr H. Smith the privileges of a fully paid-up member, m consideration of his acting as Librarian without remuneration, A discussion then followed, regarding the right of non-subscribers to vote for the Committee. Eventually, it was decided that; as no support is received from the public, they should not be allowed a voice m the disposal of the funds; The election was then proceeded with ; and, at a meeting held subsequently by the Committee, Mr R. Parlane was chosen as President for the ensuing year.
