SCHOOL COMMITTEES.
EAST OXFORD. The usual monthly meeting of this Committee was held on Tuesday evening last. Present— All the members. The minutes of the previous monthly meeting were read and confirmed. The minutes of the special meeting held on the 25th instant were read and considered correct. Mr Aldridge objected to their being confirmed, as he considered the proceedings on that occasion were not properly carried out, as the minutes of the previous monthly meeting were not read at that special meeting. He read the clause m the Education Act referring to the subject of meetings of Committees. Messrs Fisher, Mitchell, and Comyns concurred m the view taken by Mr Aldridge. The Chairman, and Messrs Parish and Keats, considered the meeting perfectly regular, as tbe meeting was called for a special purpose. Each member of the Committee stated that they never knew of the minutes of a regular meeting being read at a special meeting. Mr Fisher therefore moved, " That a pupil teacher should be appointed." The Chairman objected to put the motion unless it was added "In the event of the former proceedings being illegal." This was agreed to, and carried, owing to Mr Comyns voting m the opposite direction to which he did at the special meeting. It was decided to vote for Messrs. Peryman, Weston, and Webb, as members of tbe Board of Education. The Master's report was read, and coneidered satisfactory.
A list of irregular attendants was supplied, and it was deciJed to send notices to the parents that unless their children attend more regularly they will be summoned. The Committee then adjourned*
