THE HOUSEKEEPER.
Children's Teas : A; Plain Seed Cake.— Half a quartern of dough,, half a pound of dripping, quarter pound of sugar, one egg, one teaspoonful of carbonate of soda, three ounces carraway seeds ; bake for three hours in a slow oven. Another Good Plum Cake for Children. — Beat quarter of a lb of good sweet dripping until dissolved, add to it half a pound of sugrr, half a pound of currents, one teaspoonful car; of soda stirred in one pound of flour , three eggs well beaten, and half a pint of milk. Put in a well greased tin and bake in a moderate ov3n directly, for about an hour and a half. ■ . Rhubarb Jam. — One and a half' pounds rhubarb stalks to one pound preserving sugar, the peel of onelemon. Boil all well together, stiring constantly, and adding a tablespoonful of powered ginger. Turn into pots and cover. Milk Cakes.— -One and a half pounds of flour, two ounces of butter, a pinch of salt, one teaspoonful of bak'ng powdar ; mix with new milk, roll round the paste thin, and divide into flat cakes, and bake one hour.
