SALVATION ARMY FUNERAL.

On Sunday last, December Bfch, the public cemetery at East Oxford witnessed one of the largest funerals that we have had for some time. Mrs Sohman, an old resident in this township, died last week after a long illness ; and as the deceased had been a member of the Salvation Army for some years past, the opportunity was taken to pay unusual honors to her mortal remains. At two o'clock in the afternoon, the Army asembled in great force at the lesidence of deceased's husband, and gave veut to their religious feelings by singing hymns, and by the stunning performances of their brass band. The procession was then formed, and a start was made for the cemetery, the coffin being placed in a conveyance covered with a flag. The music was continued with scarcely any intermission until the grave was reached. The bearers were Messrs J. Knowles, Cailey, Johanansen, and Boi. " Captain Wright officiated at the burial ; and his prayers were pronounced by critics to be among the most frevent ever addressed to an Oxford assemblage. At the conclusion of the ritea, an adjournment was made to the Army Barracks, where devotional exercises were freely indulge 1 in. At night, a memorial meeting was held, at which several persons gave testimony, and a profitable time was spent.
