PAEROA CRICKET CLUB.
FORMATION DECIDED ON. ELECTION OF OFFICERS, With .the object of forming a cricket club in Paeroa, a meeting was held ■in the Borough Council offices on Friday evening. Mr P. C. Furley was voted to the chair. In his opening remarks the chairman said that he had been approached by many men of all ages who de- | sired the formation of a cricket club, and he thought the right spirit prevailed in the town to.that end. Afer some discussion Mr Edwards moved "That a Paeroa Cricket Club be formed, and that the subscription for this season be 10s per member/ This was •seconded by Mr Briggs and carried unanimously. It was approved by the meeting that "financial" members h'aye priority in regard ,to prac.tice and selection for. matches over members whose subscriptions are unpaid. The following officers were elected for the current season: Presided, Mi* .George Dean ; viee-tpresidents, Mr Fielder, Mr W. H. Taylor, and Mr W. J. Towers ; captain, Mr P. C. Furley ; secretary, Mr R. Hodson; committee, Messrs Bishop, Martin, Briggs, Bryden, and Jordan. In order to facilitate the commencement of practice Mr Bishop moved "That the captain be 'empowered to purchase miscellaneous gear necessary to commence practice." This was seconded by Mr. Fielder and carried. It was decided to fix Tuesday and Thursday evenings as practice night-s. A hearty vote of. thanks to the chairman concluded .the meeting.
