A CHILD BREAKS ITS NECK.

About a quarter past six o'clock on Friday evening Mrs Hartley, of Koromiko Street, Te Aroha, on going into the back yard to find her 18 months' old child, discovered him hung up in a swing umder one of the trees. The little one was caught under one arm and chin, and when extricated from its position was lifeless, its neck boing broken. The child had apparently been playing near the swing and became entangled in it. Dr Kenny was immediate!/ sent for, but could only pronounce IL&| extinct. Much sympathy 18 fel£|fi|r the bereaved parents in their trouble.

An inquest was held, and the jury returned a verdict of accidental death, no blame being attachable to anyone.
