A New Gold Saver.

A new gold saver imported from Orange, N.S.W. has been tried durino; the holidays by Messrs Edwin Edwards and party at Tapu. The machine consists of an iron cylinder containing 19 puddlers, and a number of ripples laid on an incline. The dirt is fed through a small grizzly and is attached by the revolving puddles with a steady stream of water. After leaving the cylinder the sand passes over a shaking table or small vanner and the gold not saved in the cylinder is caught in this manner. The machine is hand worked and is very ingenious. A man and a boy can work it, and it will be extremely useful for the auriferous black sands of the peninsula. Mr Edwin Edwards has the rights for the colony, and intends manufacturing the machines with some improvements and on a larger scale.
