THE LIBERAL CANDIDATE.
A meeting of delegates. from tlie various branches of the Liberal Federation m Ohinemuri was held in the Criterion Theatre on Sunday last, when the President of the Federation, theKt. Hon. li. J. Seddon, was present. Mr JS athan was called to the chair. After a considerable amount of dis-cussion,-n list of tlio ca:rlidii!os for Ohiuemuri was prepared, and the delegates jproceeded to select the Government candidate. M■■•ssrslloW and Colclough announced that they retired ?rom.thp contest i-q the. interests of the LiberaT'Party. The names of all the candidates, with the exception of those of Mr McCullqugli, Mr Palmer and Mr Drumm, were unanimously struck, out. and Mr McCullough's name was struck out by eight votes to two. This left only two names—-Mr Jackson Palmer and Mr E. J. Drumm—and it was I'esplved to send; these two names to, the Executive of tie Federation at Wellington to make a final selection. Eai'h of these gentlemen agreed that in the event of ho not being the selected candidate that he would retire in favour of the other gentleman.
