Business Licenses.

A meeting of the Committee appointed by the Karangahake business people to draw up the petition to bo forwarded to the Minister of Mines re the granting redress as to collection of business license fees, was held at Karangahake on Monday evening' last. There •'were .present :■ Messrs Clark (chairman), Searle, Adams, Walters, Heron and Ellis (secretary). Tho Secretary read a telegram received from Mr H. J. H. Elliott, as follows : •'Minister ox Mines absent from Wellington. Will await receipt of petition about business license fee. Would point out that fee is imposed by Act, and there is no power to remit payment." The report of the meeting recently held at Waihi on the same matter was also read. After this the Committee started to work and drafted out a petition to be forwardod to the Minister of Miues.
