HIGH POST FOR WOMAN

Assistant Secretary Of Defence MRS ANNA ROSENBERG NZPA—Copyright WASHINGTON, Rec. 7 p.m. Dec. 21. Senate today confirmed Mrs Anna Rosenberg as Assistant Secretary of Defence. The action came after the Senate Armed Services’ Committee rejected as false the testimony that she had Communist associations 15 years ago. Mrs Rosenberg contended that the charges arose from mistaken identity. Born in Hungary 49 years ago, Mrs Rosenberg is the first woman ever to serve in such a high post in the military department. She will act as manpower and labour authority under the Secretary of Defence, Mr George Marshall, who personally asked for her appointment.
