Defence Minister’s Good Wishes PA WELLINGTON, Dec. 7. The following message was despatched by the Minister of Defence, Mr Macdonald to Brigadier Park, the Commander of K Force: “All good wishes to you and to those who travel with you in the days ahead. Your task looks to be a big one, but New Zealanders have experienced hard going before this and have acquitted themselves with distinction. K Force will keep up the old traditions. Kindest personal regards.” Brigadier Park in reply sent the following message to the Minister of Defence: “All ranks of K Force are grateful to you for your very kind message of goodwill. Everyone is in good heart and I am sure we will give a good account of ourselves. May I add my own kindest personal regards ” PAY AND ALLOTMENTS PA WELLINGTON, Dec. 7. The Emergency Force Regulation* which are gazetted tonight make provisions for appointments and promotions, rates of pay, allowances and leave for members of the emergency force (the K Force). The pay for soldiers ranges from 15s for a private to 25s lOd for a warrant officer I. For officers the pay is from 25s for a second lieutenant to 68s lOd for a brigadier. Allotments from pay to be paid into a bank account range from 5s to 9s. Provision is also made for special allotments to the wife of a married soldier. The mufti allowance on discharge is to be fixed, and is not specified in these regulations.
