PERSONAL VICTORY
Sir John Allum At Auckland RE-ELECTED MAYOR FOR FOURTH TERM PA AUCKLAND, Nov. 19. Sir John Allum gained a personal triumph on Saturday, when he was elected Mayor of Auckland for a fourth term. He won the against three opponents, and, althougn the total poll was small, his majority of 6567 on the provisional count was greater than the one he gained in 1947 The total votes gained by the four , Mayoral candidates were:—Sir John Allum (Independent), 19,356,, J. S. Stewart (Labour), 12,789; J. L. Coakley (Citizens), 6076; V. Wilcox (Communist), 520. There are .now 18 Citizens Association nominees on the Auckland City- Council, against a full ticket of 21 previously. Labour, now has three seats, against none previously. Political Labour increased its representation on the Auckland Harbour Board and the Auckland Hospital Board from one to three in each case. A feature of the polling was the heavy vote given Mr N. Donaldson, a Labour candidate for the Harbour Board, and to Mrs M. M. Dreaver, a Labour candidate for the Hospital Board.
