NEW HEART TAKEN

Labour Party Officials Special Correspondent WELLINGTON. Nov. 19. Labour’s success in recovering considerable ground in the municipal elections has given new heart to party officials, who have been as much surprised as anyone else at Saturday’s results. Although there were local influences and local considerations in every district, there has been a marked trend in several parts of the country towards Labour. In some instances, it has restored the party to its old strength in local government. It is believed here that this development is a consequence of the defeat of Labour at the parliamentary polls. It is claimed that people have an inclination not to allow Labour or its opponents a monopoly of both municipal and parliamentary polls.
