ONSLOW LADIES’ CLUB
The monthly matches for the Arthur Hudson and McGrath Cups were played in conjunction with an extra LGU Medal Match by the Onslow Ladies’ Club on Thursday. The best cards were: Mrs Valentine 107—25—72, Mrs Boardman 96—23 73, Mrs King 97—23—74; Mrs McAllan 98— 24—74, Mrs Dyke 100—26—74. Next Thursday a Captain v. Secretary Teams’ Match will be played. The draw will be arranged in the clubhouse. An inter-club match with the Chisholm Park Ladies’ Club was played on Wednesday and resulted in a win for the Onslow Ladies’ Club by 11 games to 7. Manawatu Championship PA PALMERSTON N„ Oct. 23. E. J. Astin beat K. S. Glendinning 4 and 3 to win the Manawatu Open Golf Championship title in the tournament which was concluded at Hokowhitu yesterday. Both players are from the Manawatu Club. Astin, who played consistently well throughout the tournament, maintained good form in the final, and when the match ended on the fifteenth was one under bogey. Glendinning was not at home on the greens, and putting lapses cost him several holes. More than 100 players from all over the North Island took part in the tournament, which was favoured by fine weather.
