WOMEN’S SOFTBALL

Kiwi No. 1 went through the North Otago Women’s Softball Association’s Yankee tournament, held on Saturday, without a loss, to take the major honours. It secured four wins. Bluebird and High School, two new teams, both played well to register two wins each. Pirata and Kiwi 2 each secured one win. Pirata was unlucky in losing two of its games as it was narrowly beaten by two runs and one run respectively. Results were:— First round: Kiwi I 13, Bluebirds nil; High School 9, Pirata 7. Second round: Bluebirds 19, High School 5; Pirata 10, Kiwi 11 2. Third round: Kiwi I 6, High School 5: Kiwi II 7, Bluebirds 3. Fourth round: Kiwi I 8, Kiwi II 2; Bluebirds 7, Pirata 5. Fifth round: High School 14, Kiwi II 4; Kiwi I 15. Pirata 2.
