THE CATLINS ROADS
Sir, —-I have read with interest the letter* by "Tourist” and others regarding the Catlins roads, and I agree with the writers that an improvement is long overdue. The letter by L. F. was, to my mind, a poor attempt to stifle just criticism of the County Council’s policy of neglect. If L. F. is going to defend the methods at present employed by the council let him come right out in the open and do so, and see what sort of a reception he will get. “Tourist’s” reply to L. F. was mild to what is stored up. Will he defend the do-nothing policy in regard to the main Owaka-Balclutha highway after funds are made available by the Public Works Department? An improvement m county affairs is long overdue, and I suggest that L. F. joins with others in trying to bring it about.—l am, etc., Henry A. Brough.
