LIFE SAVING

St. Clair Club ADDITIONS TO PAVILION Additions and improvements to the St. Clair Life Saving Club’s pavilion are now nearly completed and the new portion will be opened on Sunday, when the public will have an opportunity to see through the building. The additions comprise a women’s dressing room, with showers, conveniences, cupboards and lockers for surf equipment. The kitchen and committee room have been altered, and 'the main clubroom has been enlarged for instruction purposes. A new entrance has been provided. The pavilion is owned by the Dunedin City Corporation, and the cost of the improvements was divided among the club, which raised £BSO by holding a carnival, the St. Clair Improvement Society, which contributed £SOO. and the City Council, which gave £425. As a result of these additions to the building, the officers believe .that the club can offer the best facilities in New Zealand. A wide range of lifesaving equipment is available, and the public using the beach is assured of protective service during the new season. Twenty-seven rescues were effected last season, and since the club was formed in 1911. 400 rescues have been recorded
